      <image:title>About</image:title>
<image:caption>The White Pig Animal Sanctuary is an animal sanctuary on 172 acres of protected land in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in beautiful central Virginia. It is currently home to 4 species of farmed animals (pigs, horses, sheep and goats) rescued from cruelty, neglect, abandonment, slaughter and other unfortunate circumstances. Over the last 23 years the sanctuary has been a forever home to many animals. Many of the residents have escaped slaughter, been rescued from abuse, abandonment, neglect, or surrendered by previous owners. When we say yes to rescuing an animal, we say yes to providing them love, care and home built just for them for the rest of their life. We are not a rescue but an animal sanctuary. Each animal here is an ambassador for all animals and will live out their entire life here being loved, cared for and cherished. In 2017 the sanctuary became a 501 (c) 3 non profit. Since then, we have welcomed many new animals and visitors to the sanctuary, and expanded our Educational Outreach Programs. We serve to educate the public by encouraging the reduction or (preferably) elimination of animal products from their diet and lives. By connecting people with animals, and supporting them in their journey to eliminate animals as a commodity in daily life, we believe that a paradise for all species is an obtainable goal.</image:caption>

<image:title>What's New - At The White Pig Animal Sanctuary, we believe in the transformative power of connection—between people, animals, and the world we share. Every day, we witness profound moments of change when someone looks into the eyes of a rescued animal, truly sees them for who they are, and recognizes that their life has value. This moment of recognition is the foundation of our Care, Connection, and Compassion Program, where youth and adults are guided through hands-on experiences that nurture empathy, kindness, and a deeper understanding of farmed animals. Many young people have never had the opportunity to interact with farm animals in the same way they do with pets or wildlife. By spending meaningful time with rescued pigs, horses, sheep, and goats—each with a name, a personality, and a story—participants begin to see these animals as individuals, not commodities. They experience the joy of pigs playing, the gentleness of a horse leaning in for affection, and the quiet trust of a rescued sheep resting beside them. Through eco-therapy, interactive animal care, and humane education, we create a safe and supportive space where participants can reflect on their emotions, explore the interconnectedness of all living beings, and carry those lessons into their own lives. The program also includes Plant-Powered Living, an educational component that invites youth and adults to learn healthy, plant-based cooking skills while exploring how food choices impact personal well-being, environmental sustainability, and animal welfare. By honoring diverse cultural traditions and lived experiences, we empower participants to make informed, compassionate decisions that align with their values and health goals. We also offer the Sanctuary Stewards Mentorship Program, which provides individualized mentorship for youth, nurturing leadership through kindness, care, and connection. One parent shared, “It was such an important part of her moral upbringing.” A program graduate reflected, “It’s a place where people come to have immersive interactions with animals and learn kindness.” We hope you will consider making a gift in support of this ambitious and deeply meaningful program, helping us inspire care, connection, and compassion in the next generation.</image:title>

<image:title>What's New - First impressions matter—especially when it comes to opening hearts and minds to the importance of treating all animals with kindness, compassion, and respect. Your support is essential in helping The White Pig Animal Sanctuary remain a safe, welcoming, and inspiring place for both our rescued animals and the people who visit them. With your generosity, we can complete critical facility upgrades that will protect the animals in our care and allow our mission to grow. Your gift will help us: Repair and install additional fencing to ensure the safety of our rescued animals ($15,000) Update and install new electrical lines and replace outdated fixtures ($5,000) Insulate barns to improve energy efficiency and keep animals comfortable year-round ($10,000) Build additional barns to provide shelter for animals still waiting to be rescued ($20,000 for two barns) Grade and gravel animal areas to keep them safe and accessible in all weather conditions ($3,500) Create a dedicated special needs barn and complete a medical bay to care for sick and injured animals ($10,000) Build secure storage for animal feed, medicines, and essential farm equipment ($40,000) Add overhangs to existing barns for inclement weather ($15,000) Install a hardwired, gas-powered generator at the animal barn to guarantee water, heat, and essential systems during frequent power outages ($15,000) Renovate the existing quarantine barn and hay storage barn due to damage from fallen trees and our beloved big pig, Atticus ($15,000) We are in urgent need of these improvements to ensure our sanctuary remains a safe, loving home. The total cost of this project is $148,500, and every contribution—no matter the size—brings us closer to making this vision a reality. These upgrades will allow us to expand our reach, welcome more visitors, and save more animals for years to come. Please consider clicking the Donate button below to support our Homes for a Lifetime Infrastructure Initiative Fund and help create a sanctuary where compassion and care can truly thrive. Your generosity will have a lasting impact on the lives of countless animals and the people inspired by their stories.</image:title>
